I’ll admit I originally liked the video more than the song. When I first saw it my jaw dropped off from it’s awesomeness and I wanted to do this remix to be able to use the visuals to my benefit.

When I sat down to produce this song – I started off thinking I would make a blip techno remix (like some of the sounds the song already has) but then I saw the live at Jimmy Fallon and I found it to be quite aggressive as a performance – the lyrics overall were provocative and the rhythm was a few notches above easy listening.

I also wanted to use as much of the original samples I could – liked the beat work on the original, especially the breakdown with the synth, and tried to keep that energy intact.

So it became this: nasty beats, seductive bass and impressionable vocals – hope you like it

I wanted this song to be happy and hip – an uplifting tune that would accommodate the NASA message.

From the samples I had in my hands I particularly liked the woman vocals and saw that as the center piece to form my music around.

In particular, the songs I liked and used most were:
- Whatcha doin’ (instrumental)
- Way Down (with RZA John)
- A volta (with Sizzla Ama)
- Gifted (with Kanye West)

I used some of my usual methods: multiple beats overlapping each other, swift changes, clear vocals and of course ending with some distorted paranoia…

In general I can say that I took the songs and made them my own. As such , I present you yet another phat song with three times the necessary samples

At 2:35 is my favorite moment…

This must be one of my roughest remixes – It feels kinds noisy even for me…(not)

Having said that, I didn’t change the song structure. Gave the bass the lead instrument role and tuned up the guitar. I didn’t manipulated the vocals, which I wanted to be clean and clear as the lyrics seem to have hit a soft spot in my heart.

In real life, I did I travel on a plane in 1983 to go and live where my parents home country was. I can honestly say this was the most devastating experience in my life. I think of it till now with despair and sorrow…

There is something with the structure of this song that just seems logical – every new beat is first introduced by itself and then joins the chorus of other beats. But don’t let me bore you with technical/artistic blabbering…

When I first heard “Origins Unknown” I immediately saw the potential of adding a fat baseline and a break beat. The basic idea was to keep the structure of the song and simply make it more rhythmical.

I wanted to preserve the energy and pace of the original arrangement as it was what initially drew me into creating a remix after a long time… (Actually, I even took a day off work to finish it before the deadline.

I didn’t know about the artist but now I love his work. And particularly this song speaks words of truth to my mind. Coming at ‘ya with some old school magic – fat beats and distorted sounds pumping in your ears.

The title refers directly to what can happen to electronic music as a whole, the irony was just to intriguing for me. Don’t forget – a while back disco was the hip way and disco clubs where the places to be – it could happen to today’s club music as well…

I felt the original song had originally the structure of a dance song – so I used it as a basis and just “finished the job” with a more “electro” sound production.

This remix has also a more brute yet hippie feel over the original song. My favorite part is the guitar solo, which I “improved” with additional filters making it double in length and much more complicated in sound than the original take.

Above all, it a mad scientist project – proof of that is the end part where I tried to simulate an actual disco mix – you don’t know how much I forced myself to produce that bit – torturing…

Basically it’s a breakbeat song – It really sounds more proper to me that way…

Slowed down the rhythm and added some extra beats. I think it has a nice structure. The vocals are really not my style but I used some shouts just for fill-ins. The beats are hard around the edges but I like the grungy feel anyway…

The title gives an indication of the vibe the song is trying to create – in that perspective, I let the beats distort around the end intentionally just to give an extra feel of the “corruption”…
